About Us

We’re a team of researchers, with backgrounds in computer science and biology. Our combined experiences range from developing software and algorithms that support biomedical scientists to conducting hands-on experimental research. As experimentalists, we grappled with the extensive time and dedication required to design robust experimental workflows. From sifting through vast research literature to fine-tuning reagents and processes, we’ve navigated both failures due to lack of foresight and breakthroughs from well-planned experiments. These firsthand experiences, marked by both our successes and failures, have inspired us to create Labmate.

Reinforcement Learning with Scientist Feedback (RLSF)

Scientific progress often builds upon previous work, yet traditionally, the exchange of ideas and feedback on experimental design have been limited to immediate networks. Labmate is changing this by integrating scientists into the reinforcement learning process. This integration enhances Labmate’s precision and adaptability, ensuring it adapts to the multifaceted nature of scientific inquiry. Each individual’s input refines Labmate and propels scientific innovation. In this expanded network, every scientist gains access and can build on a shared repository of knowledge and experience, overcoming the limitations of geography and isolated networks.
